Effective immediately, all part-time employees will qualify for City of Memphis employee perks, including free MATA rides and library access – all it takes is showing a current employee badge.

Part Time City of Memphis employees do not have to pay a copayment or a deductible when visiting the clinic. Additionally, the clinic has a limited supply of medications in stock at no cost to you. Insurance is not required. There are two Employee Clinics available.

City of Memphis 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan

Eligible PT employees may join the plan except independent contractors. Pretax contributions Through payroll deduction, you may make pretax contributions up to the annual IRS maximum contribution limit. Traditional pretax contributions are deducted from your paycheck before tax calculations occur.

Voluntary Benefits

Eligible employees will have access to sign up for voluntary benefits, namely, group accident, cancer assist, critical illness, term life, and individual short-term disability. Our goal is to continue to provide innovative and competitive benefits that will help us attract, retain, and motivate employees.

We are pleased to announce that the City of Memphis will now be offering a select package of benefits to part-time employees. This is a continuation of our strategy to ensure we are attracting and retaining top talent for the City of Memphis.

Part-time employees who are scheduled for 20 or more hours per week and have been employed by the City for at least a year will be eligible to enroll for benefits such as group accident coverage, cancer assistance, critical illness insurance, term life insurance, and individual disability insurance. In addition, after one year of employment with the City of Memphis eligible part-time employees will qualify for a Death Benefit of $10,000.  Please make sure to designate your beneficiary.
