Via Benefits
The City of Memphis has partnered with Via Benefits to assist eligible retirees and their families secure health insurance coverage by contributing funds to a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) account. The amount of the HRA varies and is determined by the retiree’s and dependents’ age and Medicare status at the time of enrollment.
Who is Eligible?
Pre-65
- Pre-65 City of Memphis Retirees
- Pre-65 City of Memphis Retiree Spouses, who do not have access to an employer-sponsored group coverage
- Disabled children over the age of 26 (Documentation is required)
- Dependent Children under the age of 26 who do not have access to an employer-sponsored coverage
Post-65/Medicare Eligible
- Post-65 City of Memphis Retirees
- Post-65 City of Memphis Retiree Spouses, who do not have access to an employer-sponsored group coverage
- Line of Duty Retirees/Spouses
Note: Retirees who are covered under the City of Memphis Medical Plan are ineligible to enroll in the HRA program.

We have taken the liberty of attaching some documents for your review. As a post-65 commissioned retiree you are not required to purchase a Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage plan through VIA Benefits. To weigh your options please contact VIA Benefits at 1-866-201-03676.
To disenroll from your existing coverage, please give us the effective date you would like coverage to end. If you have obtained your Medicare card and additional coverage, please provide us with copies of those cards.
